The plastic pot recycling program started by the Missouri Botanical Garden, St. Louis, Missouri, and is now managed by STLOUISGREEN.COM. The program recycles plastic gardening pots, trays, and planters into landscape timbers made locally in partnership with FRC Recycling and EarthCo, Inc. Timbers measuring 6 x 6 inch x 8 feet long and 6 X 6 inch X 4 feet long are being sold to demonstrate the benefit of recycling and to show the use of new products made from horticultural plastics that are otherwise discarded into landfills. Raised beds, retaining walls and edging are some of the more common uses for plastic timbers. They will not rot or decay so you are buying green with a lifetime of use.
To mimimize the energy cost for shipping timbers from the manufacturer and to keep the retail cost low, we order by the truckload and warehouse in St. Louis. Timbers are available on a first-come, first-served basis. To secure an order of recycled timbers, you must place an order either online here or by phone at (314) 222-8004. Pick-up and delivery options are available (delivery is provided by Kirkwood Material). To make delivery arrangements, call Kirkwood Material at (314) 822-9644 to place orders to be delivered. For customers picking up orders, each 8 foot timber weighs about 90 lbs. If you have questions, click on the contact us tab above.
